It's difficult for Australia to achieve unprecedented feats.

The highest peaks have long been mastered.

We're talking about the unit that has won seven Cricket World Cups, along with an additional six T20 titles, and earlier maintained 1,294 days without defeat in 50-over cricket.

The remaining milestones, targeted by the peak baggers, are what's still available for a squad that has accomplished all there is.

That it took until Sunday's victory by three wickets over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase above 300, reclaiming their record for the highest in the female 50-over format, is, honestly, a compliment to the bowlers that have worn canary yellow over the past 50 years.

It's difficult for their hitters to hold a record if never given the opportunity.

Ultimately, the consequence of Australia conceding 330 was skipper Alyssa Healy receiving a chance to create her newest gem.

Initially recognized as the young family member of famous ex Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she made her debut in 2010 after Australia failed to win either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups conducted earlier and has witnessed all through 15 trophy-laden years since.

A T20 World Cup win arrived three months after her first appearance and seven international trophies have come from 10 tries across formats.

The tough gloveman was present as well in Derby in 2017 when a last-four loss by India temporarily stopped the winning streak.

That loss "motivated us to reevaluate our levels," Healy said this week.

At the next 50-over World Cup in New Zealand, Healy hit 170 against England in the final and was declared player of the series. She ensured her country would not fall short again.

The question of whether this latest epic knock surpassed that earlier display can be debated.

Some will argue the case for final game tension. Others can counter with the difficulty that comes when confronting a historic chase and a loud pro-India audience of 20,000.

What's clear is this ton was considerably tougher to predict.

The New Zealand onslaught in 2022 happened while she topped the run-scoring charts, but this performance was preceded by six games in India since the start of last month in which she had failed to pass 30.

"For those following me in practice sessions, it was a disappointing period because I feel like I've had no rhythm whatsoever," said Healy.

"Yet the moment you step out on the field, your competitive nature activate and you just lock into the competition."

Healy's competitive nature has always been her key asset - and a priceless quality in succeeding iconic ex-skipper Meg Lanning.

She was challenged by India's promising player Kranti Gaud in last month's ODI series, dismissed by the young fast bowler in every game, but here that only provided Healy's inspiration.

One run resulted off the bowler's initial ball and from that point the right-hander was underway.

"An opportunity to go out there and engage in competition with her and just have a bit of fun in that regard, somewhat inspired me," commented Healy.

She reached fifty in 35 pitches - her quickest at a World Cup - and her century in 84 deliveries while she punished short deliveries, hitting 21 fours and three sixes.

Once she was removed Australia required another 66 at a run-a-ball - an unconquered height now needing a comfortable finish.

"Pursuing 330 is new territory so I'm pleased we have the belief to achieve that now," stated Healy further.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to repeat it but, if necessary, we know we can do it."

Those words will be the last Australia's opponents at this championship want to hear.

In recent days a belief they will succeed regardless of circumstances has become more firm - this triumph following victory over Pakistan by 107 run margin despite sitting at 76-7 at a certain moment.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before a meeting with old rivals England in Indore in ten days, by which point a last-four spot may likely be confirmed.

During that phase they were eliminated from the previous year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - a game Healy couldn't play because of damaged tissue in her foot as she captained her nation for the inaugural occasion at a significant event.

So strong is her resolve, she subsequently stated she regretted not playing through the pain.

But while she later admitted those physical issues have pushed back thoughts of retirement, this tournament is likely to be her last as captain in 50-over cricket and she is yet to win an international tournament as skipper.

Victory in India would lead her to the peak of her final mountain.
