A group of ten sentenced of online harassment targeting Brigitte Macron

A Paris court has convicted ten people for carrying out the digital intimidation of Brigitte Macron, the spouse of France's leader, Emmanuel Macron.
The accused individuals faced allegations of circulating false claims regarding her gender identity and sexuality, in addition to posting malicious remarks about the couple's 24-year age gap.
The court delivered suspended jail terms of as much as eight months to the convicted individuals. The complete verdict has not yet been published.
A longstanding conspiracy theory alleging that Brigitte Macron is a transgender woman has existed since her husband's rise to the presidency in 2017.
This latest legal outcome in France coincides with the Macrons engaging in a libel case in the United States of America against right-wing influencer Candace Owens, who has repeatedly shared analogous false narratives about the Brigitte Macron's biological sex.
Their complaint contends that Owens ignored all credible evidence contradicting her allegations choosing instead to give a platform to established defamers.
Owens has regularly repeated these claims on her show and social media channels, and in March 2024 declared that she would bet her whole career on her belief that Mrs. Macron was born a man.
Brigitte Macron first met her now-husband when she worked as an educator at his secondary school.
The two tied the knot in 2007, when the man who would become president was 29 and she was approximately 54 years old.
